Missing Mumbai

It has been thirteen years since I left Mumbai, but Mumbai does not leave me. I have decided to illustrate what I miss about Mumbai the most. Here's the first one...

Sweet Temptation
The colourful "Gola-wala" conveniently perched outside every school in Mumbai tempts all children on hot sunny afternoons. For once, do not think about the water he uses or if the sticks are re-used, just indulge!

 My interpretation -
Tree, the silent companion
My daughter's interpretation -
A bird pecks the hand of the woodcutter who is coming to chop the tree :)

After the kids are asleep, I "sink" into the couch with my book and coffee!

There is a playschool, "Small World" Next to my house. The neighbours complain of the noise of kids screaming and the traffic jam when parents come to drop their kids. But I love having a school in the neighbourhood. It is so cute watching anxious young ones clinging to their parents as it is time to go into the gate.

Mahatma Gandhi - the man who taught me not to lose an opportunity to be nice to the people who are mean to me....I have seen quite a few relationships turn around with that!

I tried pointilism with Rotring isograph (0.5mm).

Painting fun!

We had a group painting competition and we had a whale of a time! After zeroing in on the complex subject of varied human emotions, we came up with this simple illustration :)

Illustration Friday - "Breezy"

With her leg in the cast, Chavi has taken to art and is so occupied that hasn't noticed the breeze blowing her art work all over her room!!
